Two (or five!) courses are better than one! We sent a survey to our Yale learners on Coursera to ask about their experiences taking multiple Yale courses online. Here are some of their stories:
Some students go deep on one subject in multiple courses
“I worked through the Journey of the Universe courses and they had such a profound impact on my life. I gained such a new appreciation for the beauty in our planet and the stories of all peoples. I also incorporated quite a bit of what I've learned into my teachings with my high school Biology students, framing the year around finding their role in the universe story.”
- Lauren D.
“I took American Contract Law 1 and 2 among Yale University's online courses. As a young lawyer who has been trained and practiced in a different legal system, these courses introduced me to a different legal system and learning method. These courses enabled me to develop my approach to contract law, my analysis method and my interpretation skills.”
- Zeynep K.
Others have taken multiple Yale courses but found one to be especially impactful, and shared it with others
“I took the “Science of Well-being” during the beginning of the pandemic. I had just been diagnosed with stage 4 Laryngeal cancer and non-Hodgkin lymphoma. This was certainly a course that rang true for me, especially when one ponders about Purpose and your Higher Why! I am a firm believer that things unfold as they should and this course dropped in front of me at the right moment. I have had many sign up for it in my palliative care support group.”
- Jay C.
“I took a course on the growth mindset and watched it with my 2 kids (6 and 9). They quote or use frameworks from the class all the time. It changed our perceptions and approach.”
- Maxime D.
Finally, some learners are simply dedicated to taking courses all the time!
“For the last decade, my wife and I have been passionate about online courses. It's a great way to spend our evenings at home. The Yale ones we've taken have been: Old Testament, New Testament, Psychology, Death, Medical Research, Listening to Music, and Moralities.”
